Inlays and Onlays

Inlays are a type of indirect restoration (filing) that is used to restore extensive damaged or decayed teeth. When compared to conventional (direct) filling, inlays have several advantages: inlays are extremely strong and durable: well- made gold inlays, in particular, have exceptional longevity with proper care.

After-Hours Care

Access guidance for dental emergencies beyond our regular office hours. While not all emergencies require immediate middle-of-the-night treatment, our after-hours contact system provides direction for managing your situation until you can be seen in the office. For true emergencies requiring immediate attention, we offer guidance on accessing appropriate care.

Tooth Trauma

Receive expert care for dental injuries including chipped, cracked, broken, or knocked-out teeth. The first 30-60 minutes after a tooth is knocked out are critical for successful reimplantation, and we provide both phone guidance for proper handling and priority emergency appointments for these time-sensitive situations. Our treatment approaches focus on saving natural tooth structure whenever possible.

Lost Restorations

Address lost or damaged fillings, crowns, bridges, or dentures with our emergency restoration services. These situations, while not always painful, can leave teeth vulnerable to further damage and often create functional or aesthetic concerns. We provide prompt repair or replacement of failed restorations to protect your dental health and restore normal function.

Infections & Abscesses

Receive immediate attention for dental infections, which can be both painful and potentially serious if left untreated. Signs of infection include swelling, persistent pain, fever, foul taste, or pus discharge. We provide emergency drainage, antibiotic therapy when appropriate, and definitive treatment of the underlying cause to resolve the infection and prevent recurrence.

Common Questions About Dental Emergencies

If a permanent tooth is knocked out, retrieve it holding only the crown (not the root), rinse it gently without scrubbing, and if possible, place it back in the socket facing the correct way. If you can’t reinsert it, keep the tooth moist in milk, saliva, or a tooth preservation product. Then call us immediately—the best chance for saving the tooth occurs when treatment is received within 30-60 minutes. For primary (baby) teeth, don’t attempt to reinsert them, but do contact us for guidance.
If you experience a dental emergency outside our regular hours, call our main office number (305-451-8005). Our after-hours message will provide instructions for reaching our on-call service. For emergencies involving significant facial swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or uncontrolled bleeding, proceed to the nearest emergency room, then contact our office for follow-up dental care.
Severe, persistent pain that interferes with eating, sleeping, or daily activities generally warrants emergency attention. Other signs that indicate an emergency include significant swelling, bleeding that doesn’t stop with pressure, obvious infection (fever, foul taste, pus), or trauma affecting multiple teeth or causing jaw mobility issues. Even if you’re unsure, we encourage you to call—our team can help determine the urgency of your situation.
The cost of emergency dental care varies based on the specific treatment needed to address your situation. During your emergency visit, we’ll provide a clear explanation of the recommended treatment and associated costs before proceeding. We accept various payment methods and can discuss payment arrangements if needed. Most importantly, don’t let financial concerns prevent you from seeking care for serious dental emergencies, as delayed treatment often leads to more extensive and expensive problems.
